1970.....Christmas

I stumbled across this photo and it just made me smile. And the word retro went through my head. There's some classic stuff in that picture - other than me. I decided not to do the classic Christmas stuff because the photo was just too precious not to point out that there's a small black and white portable TV in our living room. I guess you can tell it really didn't dominate our lives, then there's the hi-fi stereo system that has an album playing on it. And that lame fake Christmas tree. It really looks bad. Then there's me in my new pantsuit. Back in the day, girls were not allowed to wear pants to school until then. BUT it had to be pant suits - matching pant suits. Same way for working in an office too. Boy have things changed. There are some feet in the photo that I really can't identify. It's gonna drive me nuts for awhile.

Cosmo Cricket - which is a really old line - but seriously classic. The reindeer stamp is inkadinkado and  prima stars. I got carried away and used some Martha Stewart glitter on my basic grey chipboard alphas.

Rainy days and Tuesdays....Still

TS Debbie is still hanging around. She really won't hurt anyone's feelings if she just up and left. Just saying.......
So I couldn't stop with the LYB, I need to get more because I'm running out.
Shocking I know. A little title help from my pal April. I know that surprises you. LOL!!
They look so much alike it brings about deja vu. Seriously.

Its a rainy, wind blowing Monday.....

Seems that Tropical Storm Debbie is flinging wind and water everywhere. However, Authentique has beautiful papers for a picnic. And everyone looks like they're enjoying the day. I love the b&w with the papers - gives it a timeless look.

A swing in the backyard. Does it get any better than that? I used my homemade washi tape again and love how it turned out. Very fun. I picked the MAMBI glitter alphas because I was excited about the oranged color. After the S was laid in - there were no other orange colored alphas. The other colors do work though. So it's all good.

What can you say about Little Yellow Bicycle. It's a lot of fun and very masculine. I love scrappin' the grandkidlets. So keep those photos coming!

It seems that its a good day for ducks here. So I'll be watching the show from my scrappy desk. By the slider to the lanai. Liquid sunshine. So overrated. Now grass will need to be mowed. lol!

New papers make me swoon....

And get the ole mojo flowing. Not to mention having amazingly fun photos. Taken by Jill Maynard who needs to get her own blog going on. I think I'll be a busy body and tell her that. Or she can read it here. Heidi Swapp & Simple Stories paper from my Swirlydoos Kit. The fun and funky font CK newsclips.

I adore this moody dramatic shot. And I wanted the papers to reflect that. Love Authentique and Tim Holtz. Had to make another run to M's for the sea glass and grassy stuff. That's when I came across the grungeboard - on sale. Swoon. I kept it plain. It's part of the mood.

Authentique again, and seeing Amelia flying high wigs me out. (I know Nick wouldn't drop her but dang-she's touching airplanes up there). Love Authentique again - newly purchased from Treasured Memories - my favorite LSS. Changed the word in the song "Take me higher". lol!

Maddawg's Madcap adventure....

This is Lou's sweet face and unforgettable eyes. I'm glad to be home and scrapping. The page is a copy of Soaphousemama's style. I love her style. She uses a lot of background stamps and layers. AND I made my own washi tape following this tutorial that was posted on ScrapNChat.

I love how the tape worked out and had to use the 3's and cut out an 8 into an S for the title because these thickers happened to be the perfect size. It's an 8x8 page using kraft paper, fancy pants, hero arts, thickers, punches and stamps.

I didn't have spools to wind the tape on so I used clothespins. I kind of like how it all turned out.

So for Maddawg's Madcap challenge:
1. Make your own washi tape.
2. Use it.
3. Lift/copy a style that isn't your own.
4. If you don't have what you need for your title.
Create it.

As much fun as we've had....

and it was a blast, not to mention exhausting, we are coming home. Played with the settings for Mt. Rushmore. Awesome sight.

We also went to Crazy Horse, which is 30 min. from Rushmore. It's not quite done, but it too will be magnificent.

Old miner's shack at Crazy Horse towards sunset. The museum at Crazy Horse is amazing and I could've spent hours there.

Some lyrics of Badlands....by

Bruce Springsteen

Badlands you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand
As the price youve gotta pay
Well keep pushin till it's understood
And these badlands start treating us good

For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it aint no sin to be glad you're alive.
I wanna find one face that aint looking through me
I wanna find one place, I wanna spit in the face of these

Badlands...

Bighorn National Park

This is the Bighorn Canyon. There were no bighorn sheep. Its a deep canyon, really deep and the cliffs are beautiful and rugged. The water comes from a big lake which is why it looks green. There's a bird in this picture. Good luck with that. It is a bird of prey, just not sure which one.

And wild horses NOT running through the pasture with the wind blowing through their manes. NOOOOO they're standing under the tree. Milling about. Staying cool.

We are tinhorns in Cody, WY

Having a great time. We went to a rodeo last night. It was my first time and it was a lot fun and those cowboys and girls are total athletes. I winced more than once when horse, steer or bull threw them off. Finally got back to civilization and some hook ups. Honestly it was great getting away from TV and Internet for awhile. Between zipping from place-to-place, being awed by just about everything, and taking and photoshopping tons of pix - I can't focus. So I'm just gonna enjoy and catch it all up as the spirit moves me.

Poser in the sun. Its some sort of squirrel. I think.

The town was named for Buffalo Bill Cody.

Pony express rider.
I love the wild west. The rodeo riders had really cute butts in chaps. It was not a hardship to watch and it was a lot of fun. Deadwood is next on our list. Did you see the series on TV about Deadwood??? Very cool.
